Radisson Hotels & Resorts and Select Comfort To Expand Access to Sleep Number Beds

Radisson Hotels & Resorts® and Select Comfort Corporation announced a renewed partnership, which builds on a 2004 agreement that made SLEEP NUMBER® beds available in Radisson Hotels & Resorts in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. The companies said that the updated agreement creates an opportunity for more travelers to enjoy a high level of personal choice and comfort in bedding by offering both Radisson and Select Comfort the potential to geographically expand the current relationship.

“We are very pleased about the new agreement because the Sleep Number bed has helped Radisson stand apart in the minds of frequent travelers,” said Nancy Johnson, executive vice president of full-service hotels for Radisson Hotels & Resorts. “Radisson is committed to providing travelers with an experience that meets their individual needs for comfort and service, and the Sleep Number bed is an important part of this ‘Stay Your Own Way’ strategy.”

Johnson added that two-thirds of Radisson guests are aware that the properties offer the Sleep Number® bed, and guests rate “comfortable beds” as one of the strengths of Radisson properties.

“Our mission is to improve people’s lives by improving their sleep,” explained Jim Raabe, senior vice president and chief financial officer for Select Comfort, who also oversees the company’s hospitality efforts. “Our continued commitment to our successful partnership with Radisson means more people will realize the role a personalized sleep surface plays in getting a good night’s sleep – both on the road and in their homes.”

Woolrich Debuts Extensive Rug Collection at Mohawk Industries

By: Furniture World Magazine
Woolrich, Inc., announced that the brand inspired by the outdoors and by people who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle, will launch a new line of machine-made rugs at the New York Home Textiles Market beginning August 9. Produced by Mohawk Industries, one of the world’s largest floor covering manufacturers and distributors, the outdoor-inspired floor coverings will be showcased in the Mohawk showroom at 295 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1412.

Nature inspired colors are predominant with rust, warm gold, pine green, and earthy browns woven into the collection. Woolrich iconic motifs are featured throughout the extensive collection of 34 area, scatter, and outdoor rugs.

Well known for its classic red and black buffalo check dating back to the mid-1850s, the pattern is updated for today’s consumer with a strong border. Blocked plaids and quilted patterns offer casual designs for customers seeking rugs perfect for cabins and farmhouses. Traditionalists will find timeless floor coverings inspired by primitive tribal, hand-knotted rugs of old. The true outdoor enthusiast will appreciate the rustic rug designs featuring wild animals, fishing, and camping.

Also included in the line are outdoor rugs crafted in Olefin that naturally sheds water. Printed outdoor rugs are enhanced by Woolrich’s new urethane backing, which was originally formulated for use on boats, ensuring these rugs will withstand damp environments with ease. Other rugs feature soft-underfoot nylon loop pile that is also easy care.

Approximate retail for a 5×8 area rug is $299.99; 5×8 woven outdoor rugs will retail for $79.99; 5×8 printed outdoor rugs at $149.99; and a 30×50 inch printed scatter rug is expected to retail for $39.99. Every rug in the extensive collection enhances and complements Woolrich’s broad collection of home furnishings.

Dennis Marxen, vice president of licensing for Woolrich, stated, “We are extremely happy to have Mohawk on board as a Brand Partner. Mohawk’s collection of Woolrich rugs offer quality, durability, and function, and are the perfect choice for anyone who enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle.”

Rocky Casteel, Mohawk’s vice president and general manager of area rugs, textiles, and floor mats, added, “Consumers will find this collection not only beautiful but easy to care for, making these rugs an exceptional value overall.”

The rugs will be available through major U.S. retailers.

Otway logging plans worry furniture maker

Map: Lavers Hill 3238
A Lavers Hill furniture maker and tourism representative has questioned plans to phase out logging in the Otway Ranges in southern Victoria.

Alistair Watt suggests a balanced economy, that includes timber, tourism and agriculture is needed.

He is worried full-time timber jobs will not be replaced by an emerging tourism industry as predicted by the State Government.

Mr Watt says it is getting harder for him to find the small quantity of blackwood timber he needs to keep his business going.

“The whole effort has been not just stop the logging, it’s been making everything a national park. National parks mean not only no logging, no firewood, no fence posts, no beekeeping, no horses etc, etc,” he said.
