Bringing Indonesia Furniture and Craft Industry to Global Standards

Since 2012, IFMAC is in government command to continue to grow the ability of Indonesian furniture production. This year, IFMAC emphasizes technology at competitive prices and solutions that can be purchased by furniture manufacturers, especially small and medium industry players who are careful in choosing machines and identifying assets that can fixed their production needs, which in domestic and export high demand.

Secretary General of HIMKI, Abdul Sobur, the performance of furniture exports and handicraft products this year will grow nationally in the range of 5-6% by the end of the year. However, this growth is very small compared to Vietnam, where the export growth of this product has been able to grow 38% in the last three years or an average of 16% per year.

According to Sobur, in terms of raw materials, human resources and Indonesian design can be above Vietnam. One of the conditions is using modern technology and machinery so that they have global standards.

“That is what made HIMKI encourage its members to invest in the woodworking sector,” said Sobur.

The investment in furniture machinery and woodworking machinery components will increase the production capability and competitiveness of Indonesian furniture and furniture products in the export market because Vietnam has taken the same steps to increase their export capabilities.

“IFMAC will continue to drive technological transformation in Indonesia furniture production industry, paving the way for SME furniture producers to improve their performance and operational results with sophisticated machinery and innovative solutions,” said Sobur.
