The Importance of Lighting in Interior Design

Lighting is an important component in a house but is often overlooked. Even though, lighting influences the overall visual design of the house.

From a health perspective
In one study, exposure to certain types of electric light before bed and at night increased the risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer. The human body needs good light at the right intensity and at the right time. Light in the morning helps us wake up and feel alert and energized, while dim light in the evening signals us to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Natural light in a room can reduce humidity in a room which results in bacteria and fungi. Mold attached to the walls can threaten health.

Natural light is needed in rooms that have natural plants. The plants in the room will develop well which will ultimately have a healthy impact on the house.

In terms of interior
Natural light will enter due to the transparent space dividing elements. This will have a direct impact on the atmosphere of the room, the area will look wider. Another function of natural light from an interior perspective is that the colors and materials in the room will be more clearly visible. Apart from color, the texture of the material will also be more visible so that the atmosphere of the room becomes more attractive.

From an economic perspective
The main function of natural lighting is to provide light in the room, if this function is not fulfilled it will be replaced by artificial lighting. The more artificial lighting, the greater the electricity costs will be, which will have an impact on the economic aspect.

Those are some points why natural lighting is important in a room, but that doesn’t mean that the more light that comes in, the better it will be. The amount of light that enters must be adjusted to the needs and function of the room.
