Council auctions off its furniture

AN array of furniture and more will be going

under the hammer next week as Ilfracombe Town Council auctions off the contents of its offices before they close for renovation.

The big sale takes place at the council offices on Saturday, February 3, from 10.30am – with a preview from 9.30 – and will be conducted by town crier Roy Goodwin.

There will be a day of public viewing from 10am-4pm on Friday, February 2, with a varied assortment of oddities on display!

Furniture includes a large conference room table, matching Victorian chairs, desks, filing cabinets, tables, blinds… and even more chairs!

Lamps, crockery, glasses and even a decanter set awill also gounder the hammer. money from the auction will go towards town funds and anything unsold will be go to charity.

Items of historical interest, gifts to the town or paintings will not be among the lots.

“The things being sold are those which, while it could be said are part of town history, will also be very difficult to rehome in the new modernised building,” explained Councillor Paul Crabb, who has organised the event.
