TORRANCE, CA-The Del Amo Fashion Center on Carson Street at Hawthorne Boulevard has opened a two-story


open air addition that brings dozens of new shops and restaurants to the 2.1-million-sf retail center, which is one of the 10 largest malls in the US. The addition also will include a new AMC Del Amo 18 theater complex, which is scheduled to open on Sept. 22, and a Lucky Lanes upscale bowling alley.

Many of the new tenants opened for business on Sept. 14, and the remainder will open on an ongoing basis throughout the fall, with additional stores coming in early 2014. The center now totals more than 275 retailers, restaurants and entertainment venues, among them JCPenney, Macy’s, Sears, Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que and Black Angus.

One of the most unusual of the tenants at the new section of the Fashion Center is Lucky Strike Lanes, the only bowling alley in Hollywood, which is opening a new location for the first time in three years. The bowling alley is scheduled to open Sept. 28, according to John Murray, regional director of Lucky Strike Lanes.

The South Bay Lucky Strike will feature 25,000 sf in what the company calls “a retro setting” with 18 bowling lanes, electronic artwork, custom lounge seating, a restaurant and music that will often be hosted by disc jockeys. The Lucky Strike concept combines a restaurant and a full-service bar at every location in what the company calls “a truly high-end bowling lounge.”

New tenants that have signed up for space at the new section of the Fashion Center, which is managed by the Mills Corp. of Chevy Chase, MD, include among others Ann Taylor Loft, Lucky Brand Jeans, Anthropologie, Metropark, Bath & Body Works, New York & Co., Cohiba Cigar Lounge, Soho Lab, Eddie Bauer, Sunglass Hut, Free People, Urban Outfitters, GAP/GAP Body, Village Gallery, Guess, Wild Pair, J. Jill and XXI. Restaurants include P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Johnny Rockets, RA Sushi, Lazy Dog Café and Starbucks Coffee.
