A Reno, Nev., man trying to trade a carpet from his employer for furniture for his home has been charged with embezzlement, the Record-Courier reported Wednesday.
Chad Grayot was jailed on the charge after the an unauthorized deal came to the attention of his boss, Roger Pierce, who owns Roger’s Carpet One. According to the report, Grayot drafted an invoice for more than $8,000 to install carpet at JM Furniture’s Carson City store and agreed to take almost $5,000 of furniture in trade.
JM Furniture contacted Pierce last week and told him Grayot still owed money for the furniture he received in exchange for the carpeting. Pierce said he hadn’t been aware of the transaction and wanted to file criminal charges against Grayot.
