 The manufacturer of La-Z-Boy chairs is closing its Auckland factory with a loss of 70 jobs.

Morgan Furniture, which has been in business since 1944, is moving its operations to China.


It is following a number of other companies, such as Click Clack and Fisher & Paykel Appliances, that have moved their factories overseas.

A spokesperson for the Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bruce Goldsworthy, told National Radio that such businesses are reacting to the need to remain competitive in the global marketplace.
