Houston furniture magnate Robert Finger dead at 62

HOUSTON (AP) – A graveside service is scheduled for today in Houston for furniture store magnate Robert Finger.

The owner of Finger Furniture died of pancreatic cancer Saturday night at Methodist Hospital in Houston at the age of 62.

The 1-time Arizona State baseball player took over the family’s furniture business. In 2013, he turned over day-to-day management to his son but remained chairman and chief executive.

Finger was an expert horseman, winning the 2001 Cutting Horse World Championship. He also was a major supporter of the Houston Livestock Show and rodeo, as well as Houston’s museums and hospitals.
