How to Make a Dining Table Look New and Expensive

Maybe, some of you have a used dining table, or a simple-looking dining table, and its appearance has made you uninterested. However, instead of replacing it with a new dining table which is quite expensive, you can update the old dining table. Just set aside time and effort to make the old dining table look newer and more expensive. Here are 4 ways the old table change:

Clean the surface of the dining table
Especially for a used dining table, the first step you need to take is to clean it. Take a look at the dining table and see if there is any damage or not. If there any damage, then try to fix it. If the dining table is made of solid wood, then you can sand and polish it again. However, if you don’t want to do a lot of work, then you can do some minor maintenance to make the dining table look better. Dents will be more difficult to remove, but small scratches can sometimes touched up with a furniture marker. Be sure to let the furniture marker dry completely so it doesn’t transfer to the fabric. If the surface of the dining table has stains from old coffee and tea cups, then you can clean it using alcohol and a classic wood cleaner to restore its shine.

Change dining table legs
Just like any other piece of furniture with legs, a dining table can look a lot more expensive once you trade it for something better. Look at the bottom of the dining table to see if you can easily remove and replace the table legs. If you can’t, see if you can paint the dining table or polish it to make it look newer and more updated.

Make up
For a more basic dining table or a second-hand table that can’t be repaired or updated, step it up with some carefully curated decor. There is no need to use a full tablecloth, as that may be overkill. However, a tablecloth will draw attention away from the surface itself, and the choice of fabric can help bring any table shape or style more in line with the rest of your home aesthetic. You also don’t need to limit yourself to the dining table itself. Try add some upholstered chairs or chair covers for a curated look. Add a centerpiece (something that adorns the center of the table) such as a natural flower arrangement or a vase collection. The centerpiece is a good choice for a decoration on the dining table. Consider a potted plant, an antique candle set, or a tray that can draw attention to any flaws on the dining table itself.

Remember the dining room floor
Do not forget the space where the dining table placed. It can make the dining table look more expensive. Add a rug under the dining table for added detail that will elevate the room. When coordinated with other décor in the room, it will make the dining table look like part of overall design scheme that you can be proud of.
