The export value of Indonesia’s furniture and craft industry is targeted to reach US $ 3 billion this year. Industry players who are members of the Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry Association (HIMKI) are pretty sure this target can be fulfilled. Because, in the third quarter of 2018, the value of this industrial export has reached US $ 2.5 billion.

IFEX 2019 will be held on March 11-14 2019 at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Kemayoran, Jakarta

HIMKI continues to encourage its members to continue to boost exports of their superior products. Indonesian furniture and craft products are in great demand in the world market because of the uniqueness of their designs that are rich in local cultural values.

To further encourage the progress of this industry, local furniture and craft artisans, at the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2019, HIMKI in collaboration with Dyandra Promosindo will present a new program called Craftnation.

IFEX 2019 will be held on March 11-14 2019 at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Kemayoran, Jakarta. Craftnation itself is a 700 m² special area for crafting in the Central Commercial Building, JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta. Here, visitors to IFEX 2019 will get the opportunity to enjoy a variety of handicraft products such as home decor, wood crafts, paintings, and others.

“Craftnation is the latest innovation that we present to give a new color to IFEX 2019 exhibition. Here the craftsmen can showcase their best works to visitors from all over the world,” said Chairman of HIMKI, Ir. Soenoto.

Since it was first held, IFEX has become a barometer of the development of the furniture and craft industries in Indonesia and has become a reference for world industry players. From year to year the interest of participants and visitors continues to increase.

In 2016, IFEX managed to attract 9 thousand visitors, in 2017 the number reached 11 thousand visitors and in 2018 it reached 12 thousand visitors consisting of domestic and foreign visitors.

“Foreign buyers give a very positive response to IFEX and this is a potential that we must guard. In addition to Craftnation, we will present various other superior products and programs to show the quality of Indonesian furniture and handicraft products, “said Soenoto.

Encourage Use of Digital
In the industrial era 4.0 where the use of the Internet has been so massive, the furniture and craft industries are also required to implement the internet and move towards digital. The McKinsey & Company report states Indonesia’s digital economic potential is US $ 150 billion by 2025.

The furniture and craft industries are expected to benefit from this great economic potential. Industrialists in the country have started to do this by creating website pages and are active on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and others.

IFEX itself as a reference exhibition for domestic furniture and craft industry players always updates the site www.ifexindonesia.com as a source of information for participants and visitors.

Through the site, visitors can register online from now on. The site also provides various information related to layouts, current news, accommodation services, visas, and others. Since last year, IFEX even has an application that can be downloaded through the Apple Store and Play Store.

Covering journalists can also use online registration services to obtain IFEX 2019 coverage media ID. Registration is open from December 21, 2018 to February 22, 2019.

“At present the use of technology is an absolute thing in various industries including the furniture and craft industries. The use of technology in this industry is not only done at factories or craft centers but also at the management level to facilitate interaction between producers and consumers. In the future, I feel that the use of the internet will continue to grow and also become an important part of the growth of the Indonesian furniture and handicraft industry, “said Soenoto.
