Meanwhile, the United States market controls 55 percent of all Indonesia’s furniture exports. The demand for furniture products in the global market has good potential and is still wide open.

This shows that the greatest strength of Indonesian furniture is in wooden furniture, with the largest market in the United States.
The availability of quality raw materials with price stability is a determining factor in the competitiveness of the furniture and crafts industry. Considering the export target of furniture and crafts worth USD 5 billion in 2024, of which 55 percent will still be products made from wood or the equivalent of ±12 million m3 of round wood from various types of wood with the quality and standards demanded by the market.
Apart from wood, to support the export target, about 67,194 tons of ready-to-use rattan raw materials are needed. Things also important and need to get more attention are the supporting materials are accessories, packaging materials, and finishing materials.
Design development and product innovation are also the keys to facing intense competition in the global market. The furniture and crafts industry (home decor) is part of the creative industry which produces products with rapidly changing design trends. To keep up with rapidly changing design trends, a platform is needed to carry out design development and product innovation. In line with this, legal protection is needed to protect product innovation and design development.
