PESARO, Italy — In hopes of sharpening its design focus, the Pesaro Furniture Exhibition has a new name and strategy.
Scheduled from Sept. 24-27 at the Pesaro Exhibition Center, the fair is now called The New Pesaro Furniture Show – Domo 360.
Officials say the 41-year-old fair aims to focus on product design and innovation with displays that mirror home settings.
“If up until now, the exhibition has been conceived as a display of furniture objects, our aim should be to make it more of a model interior design exhibition: from a place with static exhibits to a place of experiences, where lifestyles are represented by volumes, colors, materials and features, with furnishings and suitable for any setting,” said Alfredo Zengiaro, one of four architects overseeing the project.
The 2016 event also will emphasize the kitchen as the center of the home and will offer products suited for kitchen use. Shows in even years, starting in 2017, will focus more on the entire home, using contemporary settings for various exhibits.
It was not clear how many companies will exhibit at this year’s event, which will occur about five months after the April 22-27 Milan furniture fair.
The Pesaro event would primarily attract firms from the Pesaro region, which is home to 3,700 furniture related businesses employing about 37,000 people. In 2012, the latest year for which statistics are available, the 170,000-square-foot venue was set up for about 140 exhibitors.
