Summit getting new “green” furniture concept

Habitation, a new environmentally oriented home furnishings store, is planned at The Summit — Louisville.

Louisville-based Habitation LLC is leasing about 5,000 square feet of space next to Ulta Cosmetics at the Summit, which is on Brownsboro Road at the Gene Snyder Freeway, according to a Summit news release.

Habitation sells furniture made of hardwood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and bamboo, which is considered a quickly renewable resource, according to the release.

The store also offers accessories, lighting, rugs, bedding and artwork, and custom upholstery.

Owners David Mount and Marc Caparrelli have more than 30 years of retail and consumer marketing experience with Fortune 500 and privately held companies, according to the release.

“Habitation is a great addition to our existing store mix because it offers such a unique variety and selection of home furnishings,” Becky Norton, property manager at The Summit, said in a news release. The store build-out will also reflect the company’s eco-sensitive corporate philosophy by using bamboo flooring, paints with no volatile organic chemicals and recycled lighting, Norton stated.
