Thailand furniture show draws more visitors

Attendance up nearly 5% at March event

MUANG THONG THANI, Thailand — The March 11-14 Thailand International Furniture Fair attracted 36,000 visitors, a 4.75% increase from the 34,366 who attended the event last year, officials said.

Some 8,000 buyers attended on the trade days, up 8.6% from last year. On the public days, the event attracted 28,000 consumers, up 3.7% from the 2015 attendance.

Overseas visitors came from the United States and Canada, Europe, Japan, India, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

The fair featured some 240 furniture exhibitors from Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. They showed in about 350,000 square feet at the Challenger exhibition center in Muang Thong Thani.

This year’s event was marketed under the theme Imagine Green Living and featured products made from sustainable materials including rubberwood, rattan, water hyacinth and mixed-media elements such as leather and steel.
