DOC to begin review late this month
\nHIGH POINT \u00e2\u20ac\u201d U.S. furniture makers that sought the antidumping investigation into Chinese-made wood bedroom furniture want a further review of certain companies.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
They have submitted to the U.S. government a list that includes 56 companies that the petitioners \u00e2\u20ac\u201d or other individuals \u00e2\u20ac\u201d believe are violating U.S. trade laws that prohibit dumping, or selling goods on the U.S. market below cost.<\/p>\n
A representative of the petitioners said the list includes some companies that were suggested for further review by people not involved with the original petition.<\/p>\n
The Department of Commerce is overseeing an administrative review of the antidumping duties imposed a year ago, part of a scheduled process. Some of the companies it audits as part of the annual review could receive higher duties. Others \u00e2\u20ac\u201d including Chinese companies that are seeking review because they believe their duties are too high \u00e2\u20ac\u201d could receive lower rates.<\/p>\n
The list includes four of the original mandatory respondents including: Dongguan Lung Dong Furniture Co Ltd., or Dongguan Dong He Furniture Co. Ltd. (which received a duty of 2.32%); Dorbest Ltd., or Rui Feng Woodwork or Rui Feng Lumber Development Co. (7.87%); Lacquer Craft Mfg. Co. (2.32%) and Starcorp Furniture Co. Ltd. (15.78%).<\/p>\n
The list also includes at least 19 companies that received the Section A rate of 6.65%.<\/p>\n
The closing date for the companies submitting a request for review was Jan. 31. As of that date, the DOC received more than 100 such requests, said Victoria Park, a DOC spokesperson. The complete list was not immediately available.

\nPark said the administrative review will begin at the end of February. Preliminary results should be available by early October.<\/p>\n
