The Indonesian furniture industry is targeting export revenue of 6 billion U.S. dollars, or approximately 101 trillion rupiah (at an exchange rate of 16,905 rupiah per U.S. dollar), over the next five years. The Indonesian Furniture and Handicrafts Industry Association (HIMKI) notes that the national furniture industry will continue to grow and be able to increase its contribution to the international market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indonesian furniture industry players are not solely reliant on export markets such as the United States (US) and European countries, which have long been their primary destinations. Although these two regions remain important markets, the Indonesian furniture industry is also seeking opportunities in other regions with high potential, such as the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indonesian furniture and handicrafts industry itself continues to play a vital role in the national economy. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that furniture exports account for 12.2 percent of the handicraft\u2019s subsector. Meanwhile, the global furniture market is also projected to continue growing in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To promote growth in the furniture industry, the Indonesian government has put various support measures for industry players, including facilitating the availability of raw materials, strengthening the skilled workforce, improving productivity and product quality, and conducting market development and market research. In addition, the government is also promoting the creation of a conducive business climate and the development of small and medium-sized furniture industry hubs (IKM) in various regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
