\nHudson Properties East Inc. is grading the site for a new furniture store next to Colony Tire on North Wesleyan Boulevard.

\nJames Hudson, owner of Greenville-based Hudson Properties East Inc., said his company will own and lease the building to Badcock Furniture.<\/p>\n
Badcock Furniture has its headquarters in Mulberry, Fla., a small town inland from St. Petersburg, Fla.<\/p>\n
“We’re just getting started,” Hudson said. “The store should open prior to the first of the year.”<\/p>\n
Hudson Properties East will construct the 24,000-square-foot store, Hudson said. The store will provide six new jobs, he said.<\/p>\n
“The store and land is around a $2 million project,” he said.<\/p>\n
Hudson said Badcock has about 350 stores in the Southeast \u00e2\u20ac\u201c from Virginia to Florida and to the Mississippi River.<\/p>\n
Locally, PLT of Rocky Mount will furnish the concrete at the store site, Hudson said.<\/p>\n
The rest of the companies involved in construction are from Greenville and Wilson, Hudson said.<\/p>\n
“We just finished a Badcock store in Wilson,” he said. “It has been open for a year over there.<\/p>\n
“There’s another one in Greenville. In fact, there’s one in pretty much every major town around Eastern North Carolina.”<\/p>\n
