Same-store sales skidded 9.1%.<br \/>\n                        <!--adsense--><br \/>\n\t\t <!--more--><br \/>\nFor the fiscal year to date, Pier 1\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s sales were down 8.3% and same-store sales declined 10.9%.<\/p>\n<p> \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Customer traffic and sales improved during the last two weeks of August; however, traffic trends remained below last year,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Marvin Girouard, chairman and CEO. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We believe the improved traffic and sales resulted from more aggressive marketing initiatives including new TV commercials.
