\nlifetime contributions to the home furnishings industry according to Jeffrey L. Portman, president of AMERICASMART\u00c2\u00ae ATLANTA parent AMC, Inc. Bovey was recognized at the WOW Awards, which salutes the champions and leaders in the home furnishings industry. The WOW Awards were held in conjunction with WithIt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s annual Educational Conference held in Charlotte, North Carolina.<\/p>\n
A 15-year AMC veteran, Bovey is vice president of leasing for AMERICASMART\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s home accents and furnishings center. Her tenure at AMERICASMART is marked by a long line of professional achievements and contributions, including being named one of High Point Magazine\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u015325 Who Made It Happen\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in 1995, and her visionary role in the creation of The Gardens at AMERICASMART.<\/p>\n
A completely new and innovative approach for a wholesale market center, Kathy envisioned and introduced The Gardens concept which embraced the notion of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cocooning and bringing the outside in.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The Gardens at AMERICASMART\u00e2\u20ac\u201dtoday more than 200,000 square feet\u00e2\u20ac\u201dis the nation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first and largest selection of indoor\/outdoor casual furnishings, accessories, home d\u00c3\u00a9cor and garden-related gifts.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Kathy is one of the most respected women in our industry,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d says Portman. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153She\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a leader, a giver, an innovator. She\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a consummate professional and absolutely passionate about her work. She\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s equally wise and kind. She has and will continue to redefine the way this industry does business. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re all better for knowing her,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d continues Portman.<\/p>\n
Also recognized at the WOW Awards were Bovey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s close friends and colleagues Mentoring Award recipient Kathi Cunningham and Young Leadership Award recipient Emma Roubtsov. Both women are senior managers with Four Hands\u00e2\u20ac\u201dCunningham as senior account executive and Roubtsov as national sales manager. Austin, Texas-based Four Hands is an AMERICASMART Home Accents & Furnishings Center exhibitor and is a globally renowned manufacturer, wholesaler and importer of home furnishings and accessories. Cunningham and Roubtsov\u00e2\u20ac\u201din kinship and partnership with Bovey\u00e2\u20ac\u201dhave been instrumental in growing and nurturing WithIt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s southern region. Dr. Wilma Hammett\u00e2\u20ac\u201da retired Professor Emeritus at North Carolina State University\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwas presented the Education Award.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Receiving WithIt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Legacy Award is one of the highlights of my career,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d says Kathy. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been in the home furnishings industry for 26 years and have found my forever home. Bovey is active in numerous professional and community organizations. She is a founding Board member and past National Vice President of Membership of WithIt\u00e2\u20ac\u201dWomen in the Home Industry\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Today. She champions Angela\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s House, an Atlanta area safe house for at risk young women aged 10\u00e2\u20ac\u201d16; and she serves on the Board of A.R.T, the Accessories Resource Team. She is also a breast cancer survivor and is active in breast cancer awareness causes.<\/p>\n
