With help from Veneer Technologies, southern red oak, northern red oak, and white oak large-size seedlings will soon be planted in North Carolina’s Piedmont region.

\nThe reforestation effort, sponsored by the Hardwood Forestry Fund of the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources, is\u00c2\u00a0meant to be an educational model demonstrating how to establish and actively manage productive hardwoods, according to press material.
\n
\nVeneer Technologies made a cash grant to the program, which will use the wood for future timber production. The seedlings\u00e2\u20ac\u201da total of 1,866\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwill be planted within seven-by-ten-foot spacing through this month in North Carolina\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Anson County. Future Farmer of America students from local high schools, 4-H students, community college students, and landowners interested in active management of hardwood timber stands are expected to visit the site.<\/p>\n
“Veneer Technologies is committed to reforestation projects such as this,” says Jane Wharton of Veneer Technologies.\u00c2\u00a0She adds that the project is\u00c2\u00a0intended to successfully demonstrate a sustainable site–and not just for wildlife habitat enhancement and timber produced for future high-quality veneer.<\/p>\n
