\nHinshaw of Durham, N.C., to join the board effective its October 20 meeting. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hinshaw will serve on Duke Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s National Board of Advisors from October 2013 until May 2016. As ambassador and advocate of the hospital he will travel to various events during his term spreading the message of Duke Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Hospital & Health Center. \u00c2\u00a0Hinshaw has led Kingsdown to raise more than $1 million for children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hospitals in the United States and Canada. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hinshaw joins a prestigious list of business leaders from the Triangle community and across the United States. \u00c2\u00a0The Duke Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s National Board of Advisors works year-round on behalf of the young patients at Duke Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Hospital & Health Center to ensure philanthropic goals are reached.<\/p>\n
Hinshaw has been Chairman of the Board and chief executive officer of Kingsdown Inc. since 1981. \u00c2\u00a0A native of Mebane, N.C., Hinshaw graduated from Duke University in 1971 with a bachelor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s degree in management science. An avid supporter of Duke University, he is a member of the Advisory Board of the Fuqua School of Business as well as winner of the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Charles A. Duke Award. He serves as a member of the board of directors for numerous organizations.<\/p>\n
Background on the National Board of Advisors for Duke Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Hospital & Health Center:<\/p>\n
The primary purpose of the National Board of Advisors is to oversee and promote all activities intended to secure philanthropic support for Duke Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s. \u00c2\u00a0This includes but is not limited to philanthropy development, advocacy\/outreach and strategic planning in development and marketing.<\/p>\n
