\nSOUTHLAKE, Texas \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Weir\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Furniture Village broke ground Monday on its third Dallas-area store.

\nConstruction of the 55,000-square-foot unit, which will have 25,000 square feet of selling space, is expected to begin next month, and the opening is planned for next summer.<\/p>\n
The ground-breaking was led by Weir\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 95-year-old founder, J. Ray Weir, who launched the store in 1948. He was surrounded by family, including grandsons Brooks Weir, director of merchandising and marketing, and Mark Moore, president.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We were founded on the principle of working hard to please and serve our customers,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the senior Weir said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153There are a lot of furniture stores, but it is the devotion and service delivered by our people that set us apart.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
The company did not disclose its investment in the new unit or projected sales.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
The store is on Wyndham Plaza property in a fast-growing shopping corridor in affluent Southlake, a northwest Dallas suburb. Average annual household income exceeds $133,000 within a five-mile radius of the shopping area, according to Kimco Exchange Place, which is marketing the development.<\/p>\n
The new Weir\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153will offer the same warm and inviting customer experience\u00e2\u20ac\u009d as its other stores, the company said. Among features the retailer will carry over are a country store, U.S. post office, Christian Book Nook and Clearance and More center.<\/p>\n
