\nJohn Kearns, president of the International Textile Market Assn., which sponsors the semiannual fabric event, said ITMA was extremely pleased by the response to the new element for Showtime, now in its 16th year.<\/p>\n
“The word is out,” he said, “and we were getting calls from all over from companies wanting to be in the Studio show. But we have a limited space for this first one and we decided we didn’t want to fragment the presentation, so we only accepted 15 studios for this first event.”<\/p>\n
ITMA members suggested the idea of having their customers and the studios in one place at the same time, said Catherine Morsell, ITMA director.<\/p>\n
“We think the timing is right for this,” Morsell said. “When our member companies are narrowing their focus with their lines, they’re looking to strengthen relationships with their customers, and being able to shop with the customer for art is a process that nurtures that relationship.”<\/p>\n

Studio participants will exhibit on Level One in the Suites at Market Square. The exhibit opens Saturday, Dec. 2, for ITMA members only, and opens to all Showtime attendees Sunday, Dec. 3 through Tuesday, Dec. 5.<\/p>\n
