\nNAPLES, Fla. — More than 220 leading retailers and industry suppliers have pre-registered for the start of Furniture|Today’s 10th annual Leadership Conference, which will run today through Thursday at the Ritz Carlton.<\/p>\n
Presentations and panel discussions will get underway tomorrow, but today’s preconference events include both tennis and golf tournaments.\u00c2\u00a0 Attendees also will be given a guided retail tour of the local\u00c2\u00a0Baer’s Furniture.\u00c2\u00a0 Currently ranked #50 in Furniture|Today’s Top 100 list, Baer’s continues to make inroads in Florida’s hotly contested retail market.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
This year’s conference theme, Marketing the Magic: Out-of-the-Box Strategies for Out-of-This-World Results, will focus on the industry’s ability not only to transform houses into homes, but to transform the quality of the consumer’s life.<\/p>\n
Dan Clark, recognized as one of the country’s top 10 speakers, will kick things off with a keynote presentation on marketing, magic and the relationship between the two.<\/p>\n
This year’s retail keynote address will be given by Farooq Kathwari, chairman, president and CEO of retailer-manufacturer Ethan Allen. Under Kathwari’s innovative leadership, Ethan Allen has written and rewritten the book on retail success.<\/p>\n
Steen Kanter, former president of Ikea USA East and former president and CEO of the Body Shop U.S., a Britain-based cosmetics manufacturer and retailer with stores in 46 countries, will discuss the magic of brands.<\/p>\n
Real estate expert Julius Feinblum and a panel of retailers will discuss the magic of location.<\/p>\n
Attendees also will hear about the magic of product innovation. To see some examples, they’ll get to preview next-generation solar furniture designed by students of the New York Institute of Technology as part of a U.S. Department of Energy competition.<\/p>\n
Martin Roberts of retail and showroom design firm Grid2 will moderate a retail panel that will explore the magic of the retail experience. In keeping with the tradition of looking for vision from outside the industry, one of the panelists is Jeanette Greenberg, director of stores for Cartier Jewelers, who will talk about creating window displays that entice shoppers to make luxury purchases.<\/p>\n
Executives from Kornmeyer’s, a Louisiana-based retailer that’s just invested in a new name, identity, fa\u00c3\u00a7ade and store layout, also will participate.<\/p>\n
In addition, the agenda will explore the magic of the luxury segment. Aminy Audi of Stickley, Valerie Moran of Grange, Jim Gabbert of Gabberts Furniture and Design Studio, Minneapolis, and Joe Bograd of Bograd’s Fine Furniture, Riverdale, N.J., will share their perspectives about luxury marketing.<\/p>\n
