Owner Says It’s Time To Move On
\nBOSTON — A longtime Boston furniture retailer is planning to close.

\nNewsCenter 5’s Susan Wornick reported Monday that Bob Darvin, the owner of In Home Furnishings, said that he is ready to move on.<\/p>\n
He said it isn’t about finances or lack of business. Darvin said that he’s simply ready to retire, and there’s no one to assume the operation.<\/p>\n
In Home Furnishings has been in business for 20 years in Natick, Norwood and Danvers and more recently in Hyannis.<\/p>\n
In a phone conversation Monday, Darvin underscored the fact that this is not financial, and that it’s a matter of timing.<\/p>\n
“My main concern is that all customers are taken care of,” Darvin said.<\/p>\n
He said that the customer service department will stay open for at least a year.<\/p>\n
Darvin said that the store has stopped taking new orders, but all outstanding orders will be filled. The store will have a big retirement sale beginning in mid-January to sell off its existing stock.<\/p>\n
In Home will eventually consolidate everything to the Natick location, which is expected to remain open at least through March.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Darvin said the retail store in Norwood will become a wholesale outlet for designers, decorators and small retailers, but it will no longer be open to the public.<\/p>\n
