For the first time in its long history, the Wharton Association in Pleasant Hill will be

\n having a winter sale, one that offers only used furniture. Under the direction of the Trash and Treasure Sale co-chairs Peg Winkler and Pat Cavanaugh, the sale will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. until noon in the Blue Barn on Lake Road in Pleasant Hill.<\/p>\n
At least half of the Blue Barn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s generous space will be used for the furniture sale. Available will be chairs, tables of all sorts, desks, dressers, beds and mattresses, sofas, filing cabinets, a couple of refrigerators (one small and one large), and one entertainment center.<\/p>\n
In December and January, the association received an unprecedented amount of furniture of the quality usually offered at the spring Trash and Treasure Sale. With three months yet to go until that sale, and the realization that more furniture would continue to arrive, it was agreed that an early sale would be to everyone\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s benefit.<\/p>\n
As always, the proceeds from the sale will be used to support the Wharton Association\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s varied social services. The association is named for Dr. May Cravath Wharton, the founder of the Wharton Nursing Home and Uplands Retirement Village.
