{"id":3285,"date":"2014-02-14T11:14:48","date_gmt":"2014-02-14T05:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indonesia-furniture.com\/news\/2014\/02\/14\/coatings-supplier-valspar%e2%80%99s-1q-sales-up-103-earnings-rise-47\/"},"modified":"2014-02-14T11:14:48","modified_gmt":"2014-02-14T05:44:48","slug":"coatings-supplier-valspars-1q-sales-up-103-earnings-rise-47","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indonesia-furniture.com\/articles\/coatings-supplier-valspars-1q-sales-up-103-earnings-rise-47\/","title":{"rendered":"Coatings supplier Valspar\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 1Q sales up 10.3%, earnings rise 4.7%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MINNEAPOLIS \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Valspar, a major supplier of furniture coatings and finishes, said sales<br \/>\n                        <!--adsense--><br \/>\n\t\t <!--more--><br \/>\nrose 10.3% in its first quarter ended Jan. 26 while earnings were up 4.7%.<\/p>\n<p>Worldwide sales totaled $694.5 million, compared with $629.8 million in last year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first quarter.<\/p>\n<p> Valspar\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s coatings segment, its largest business unit, recorded sales of $412.3 million in the latest quarter, an increase of 8.2% over the previous year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first period.<\/p>\n<p>Net earnings came to $23.6 million, or 23 cents per share, compared with $22.5 million, or 22 cents per share, in the first quarter last year.<\/p>\n<p>The company said weak demand for several of its paint and coatings lines was offset by the strong performance of two recently acquired businesses, Huarun Paints, a China-based maker of paint, and H.B.
