{"id":35,"date":"2013-01-19T07:10:21","date_gmt":"2013-01-19T01:40:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indonesia-furniture.com\/news\/?p=35"},"modified":"2013-01-19T07:10:21","modified_gmt":"2013-01-19T01:40:21","slug":"24-united-furniture-warehouse-stores-to-convert-to-the-brick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indonesia-furniture.com\/articles\/24-united-furniture-warehouse-stores-to-convert-to-the-brick\/","title":{"rendered":"24 United Furniture Warehouse stores to convert to The Brick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8212; Furniture Today,<br \/>\nCanadian retailer also will rename Home Show units, Sleep Better stores<\/p>\n<p>EDMONTON, Alberta \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Major Canadian retailer The Brick Group said it will convert about 24 of its United Furniture Warehouse stores to The Brick banner, in locations where The Brick doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t already have a market presence.<\/p>\n<p>Also to be renamed are the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s three Home Show units, to be called The Brick Superstore, and its Sleep Better specialty mattress stores, which will become The Brick Mattress Store.<\/p>\n<p> \u00e2\u20ac\u0153These changes are being made in an effort to increase sales at these locations, as we are leveraging the strength of our core business and most recognized and profitable brand,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Kim Yost, CEO of The Brick Group. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Management believes these changes should also result in certain cost savings, and in particular reduce our advertising and operating expenses.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>The company also said United Furniture\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s management team would \u00e2\u20ac\u0153focus on its major urban locations\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and would work to drive sales and profits via the chain\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s recent integration with The Brick\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s newly centralized distribution systems and warehouses.<\/p>\n<p>In the next year, The Brick will continue to integrate UFW\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s administrative and management functions, now based in Coquitlam, British Columbia, with The Brick\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s head office in Edmonton.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All three Home Show stores are in greater Toronto. In addition to leveraging The Brick\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s advertising dollars and creating efficiencies, the company hopes the new name will add to its consumer credit cardholder base. Holders of the Home Show\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s existing club cards will be given merchandise credits to cover the cost of the card, and will be encouraged to continue shopping at The Brick Superstores.<\/p>\n<p>Each Home Show store is about 100,000 square feet, compared to the typical 40,000 to 50,000 square feet of\u00c2\u00a0 The Brick units. The larger stores will continue to carry many of its upscale product lines, including Broyhill, Lane, Coja and Bauhaus in furniture. But the stores will target a broader base of middle to upper-middle income customers, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>The 11 Sleep Better shops also are in the Toronto area.
