\nSelect Comfort Corp. shares were down nearly 5 percent on Thursday, a day after the company said that a one-time consulting charge could cut into its second-quarter earnings.

\n In a conference call Wednesday, Chief Financial Officer Jim Raabe said the

\n Plymouth-based bed manufacturer expects to record $1 million in consulting expenses related to the development of the company’s long-term strategic plan.<\/p>\n
Those costs will have a “moderating effect” on second-quarter profit margins, Raabe said.<\/p>\n
Select Comfort is calling for revenue growth of 15 percent to 20 percent for the quarter, less than some analysts had projected. The company said same-store sales should rise 7 percent to 12 percent.<\/p>\n
Earnings are expected to rise 20 percent to 25 percent in the second quarter.<\/p>\n
