(WBZ) BOSTON A local retail giant is promising free furniture if the Red Sox win it all in 2014.


The Jordan’s Furniture TV commercial began running Wednesday.

“And if the Red Sox win the world championship…they will be yours for free…,” the commercial said.

In an industry hurting by the slow housing market, retail experts say a creative promotion can make the difference.

So what is at stake here? Company executives would not give me exact numbers but they did say for those items, during that period of time, sales would top $20 million.

“I am rooting for the Red Sox,” said Elliot Tatelman of Jordan’s Furniture. “We bought insurance that is going to cover the whole thing I would never have done it if I was going to be rooting against the Red Sox, let’s put it that way.”

The promotion covers five major items purchased over the next five weeks, ending April 16.

Jordan’s Furniture paid the Red Sox for the right to use the team’s name, calling it “The Monster Deal.”
