High Point Market now part of International Buyer Program

— Furniture Today,
HIGH POINT — The High Point Market has won a designation from the U.S. Department of Commerce

that is designed to help connect U.S. companies with foreign customers.

As a U.S. Commercial Service International Buyer Program event, the market will be promoted by the department’s Commercials Services offices around the world.

According to the High Point Market Authority, trade shows of significant size and industry representation are selected for the program based on the export potential of the shows in overseas markets. The market went through an extensive application process to attain the designation.

“As the largest home furnishings show in the world, we have more export potential than any other home furnishings market,” said Brian Casey, president and chief executive of the High Point Market Authority. “And, as the oldest show in the industry, we are currently in the midst of a renaissance, with many innovations and positive changes designed to ensure the market’s vibrancy in the years to come.”

He called the IBP designation “a substantive leap forward” for the market.

“There is tremendous opportunity here for both the U.S. companies seeking to do business overseas and for companies around the globe interested in doing business in the American marketplace,” said Casey.
