HIGH POINT — The American Home Furnishings Alliance will

sponsor a broad-based program for industry executives at its annual Finance Meeting June 14-16 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Topics will include the economy, China, management issues, trends in information technology and global logistics. The meeting will be held at the oceanfront Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort.

Albert Keidel, senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and an expert on issues relating to China’s economic reforms and regional development, will provide an overview of the Asian giant’s economic and financial prospects.

Also on the agenda are Jack Cathey, a faculty member in the University of North Carolina-Charlotte’s Department of Accounting, and Brian Allison, a technology industry consultant. Together they will present a session on trends in information technology.

A panel of industry executives is slated to address the Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism program. Panelists include Rob Pisani, an international trade lawyer; Bill Geib, director of logistics for Schnadig Corp.; Jim Chase, director of logistics for Hooker Furniture; and Cam Smith, director of logistics at Klaussner Furniture.

Jeremy Leonard, economic consultant for business research organization Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI, will examine the degree to which non-production costs, such as health care, taxes, litigation and regulatory compliance, are eroding the competitive edge of America’s factories relative to developed and emerging trading partners.
