Sanford-based Hudson’s Furniture has opened a 62,000-square-foot showroom in West Melbourne.
The retailer also announced that furniture magnate Tom Broyhill, vice president of Broyhill Furniture, plans to tour the new store at 4260 W. New Haven Ave. on June 20.
Broyhill Furniture is part of the publicly traded Furniture Brands International, which also is the parent company of Drexel Heritage, Henredon, Lane, Maitland-Smith and Thomasville.
Broyhill has been visiting many of the company’s dealers across the nation to help with ribbon-cutting and store promotions. He also outlines the family’s history in furniture.
He is the grandson of T.H. Broyhill, a founder of the Broyhill group.
Hudson’s is Florida’s largest Broyhill Showcase Gallery. Hudson’s stores feature 80 vendors, including Bernhardt, Lane, La-Z-Boy, Lexington, Martha Stewart, Sealy, Simmons, Stanley and Tommy Bahama. Hudson’s Furniture has 14 showrooms in Florida, four in Georgia and two in North Carolina.
The company was founded by C. Fred Hudson III, who opened the first store in Ormond Beach.
