Toronto summer show set for Aug. 13-15

Michael J. Knell
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Retailers from across Canada are being invited to the Aug. 13-15 Toronto Summer Furniture Show, with some 30 furniture resources expected to exhibit in and near the International Center here.

Organized by the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Assn., it’s the only mid-year trade event on the industry’s calendar for 2014.

“This is a perfect opportunity for retailers to check out the latest offerings from a wide range of suppliers and freshen up their floors for the key fall selling season,” said OFMA Chairman Laine Reynolds, also vice president of sales for Superstyle. “It’s the only time they’ll be able shop for new upholstery and case goods from many of their key Canadian suppliers before (the January Toronto market).”

The TSFS will be held in conjunction with the fall gift show organized by the Canadian Gift & Tableware Assn., set for Aug. 12-15 at both the International Center and Toronto Congress Center.

Among the companies scheduled to participate in the summer show are A.P. Inds., Artage International, Berkline, Bogden & Gross, Brentwood Classics, Decor-Rest, Distinctive Designs, Durham, Future Chair, Gibbard, Jaymar, Kingsdown, Korson, Edgewood, Leather Craft and Marcantonio Designs.

Also, Perri Fine Furniture, Reflections, Simmons Upholstery Canada, Springwall Sleep Products, Star Bedding Products/Serta Toronto, Statum Designs, Sunset Lamp, Superstyle, Trend-Line, Via (les Meubles), Villageois, Eztia, Sofa By Fancy and Elite Design.

Many of the companies don’t show at High Point or Las Vegas.

The Toronto summer show will feature the annual Retailer of the Year Gala at the Mississauga Convention Center on Monday, Aug. 13, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year’s honoree is Mega Group. Tickets are available by contacting the OFMA office at (905) 677-6561.
