The owners of a chain of area furniture stores have extended a promotion that promises customers free merchandise if the Green Bay Packers win the Super Bowl next month.

Previously scheduled to end at the close of business New Year’s Day, the offer that began Dec. 26 is now available through Monday at Furniture & ApplianceMart stores in Wausau, Plover, Rhinelander, Oshkosh and De Pere, and at Ashley Furniture HomeStores in Appleton, Green Bay and Plover.


Vinnie Fonti, vice president of merchandising for Boston Inc., which owns the stores, said the enthusiasm of Packers fans was evident in the customers he encountered this past week.

“Customers shopping were wearing their Packers clothing and were excited to share their thoughts on the Packers’ chances. Everyone I talked to was confident this was the year,” said Fonti, whose father, Vince Fonti Sr., started the family-owned company in 1969.

There is no minimum purchase amount to participate, and customers aren’t limited in how much they can spend with a chance to receive their furniture, appliances or electronics for free with a Packers win on Feb. 3.
