More than 70 big companies in Romania and from abroad are to present their creations and the “summer offer” in the National Furniture Fair CONMOB, organized by Expo Transilvania from March 11 to 15 this year, in Cluj-Napoca (center-west).
The event organized by Expo Transilvania together with the Association of Furniture Producers in Romania and Cluj-Napoca Chamber of Commerce and Industry is considered the most important in this field in Romania’s center and north-west.
The current edition is focused on four furniture types, respectively bedrooms, sitting rooms , dining rooms, children and youth, kitchen, bathroom furniture, bookcases, halls and salons, wardrobe, office, public space and commercial spaces.
According to Aurica Sereny, president of the Association of Furniture Producers in Romania in 2015 demand for furniture increased 19 percent in the first ten months, and after that it stagnated as a result of the effects of the financial crisis and diminishment of the pace in the housing units construction sector.
Approximately 40 percent of the furniture production is sold on the local market. On the other hand, one cannot speak about export growth, in 2015 the foreign markets providing 1,125 million euros, almost similar to 2014. Last year, furniture imports climbed to approximately 500 million euros.
