Most were probationary employees
TIFFIN, Ohio – Furniture producer Ameriwood has laid off

58 workers at its plant here, according to a letter filed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Most of those laid off are probationary employees who have been with the ready-to-assemble and futon specialist less than 12 weeks.

Ameriwood is based in Wright City, Mo. and is an operating division of consumer goods giant Dorel, which was recently restructured into three operation units – domestic, global sourcing and Dorel Home Brand.
