Antidumping review results delayed

— Furniture Today,
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Commerce is delaying the release of

preliminary results of this year’s administrative review of antidumping duties until Jan. 31.

The DOC originally planned to release those results on Oct. 3, which was 245 days from the time the review process began in January.

A 120-day extension is allowed by the Tariff Act of 1930. The same act requires the final results to be due 120 days after that, which would make them available by early June 2014.

The review process analyzes the export activities of certain Chinese bedroom furniture manufacturers. It allows U.S. furniture makers to request a review of any Chinese company they believe is illegally exporting furniture to the United States below cost. It also allows Chinese manufacturers an opportunity to request a lower duty.

The review period of the 2013 administrative review covers shipments of furniture made between June 24, 2004, and Dec. 31, 2012.
