Asia Pulse – Cebu’s exquisite furniture will take the spotlight during the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in December.


Delegates to the summit will find these furniture at the Cebu International Convention Centre (CICC) in Mandaue City and Shangri-La’s Mactan Island Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City, the main venues of the ASEAN Summit.

“It will highlight the best of Cebu’s furniture industry,” said Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation (CFIF) member unit head Marlene Bedia.

Bedia said the layout of the rooms will be left to the discretion of the 25 furniture companies who volunteered to furnish the rooms of the two venues.

The furniture will include some three-sitter chairs, two big chairs, tables and a coffee stand, among others.

“This is the industry’s private contribution for the ASEAN Summit,” Bedia said.

Bedia did not disclose the names of the companies for security measures and because the display is not intended for commercial purposes.

“Most of these ASEAN members are among our competitors, so even the layout of each room is considered confidential,” she said.
