Ashley Furniture to open in Clarksville

By Alex Davis
Southern Indiana will get its first Ashley Furniture Home Store next month when the company opens a

temporary location in a former Sofa Express on Lewis & Clark Parkway in Clarksville.

Mike McCord, president of KHF Holdings, said the new store near the parkway intersection with Eastern Boulevard will have about 23,000 square feet of space. That’s slightly less than half the size of his two Louisville stores, on Jefferson Boulevard in the South End and on Bluegrass Parkway in Jeffersontown.

McCord, who is licensed to sell furniture for the Ashley brand, said he’s looking for a larger permanent location in Clark or Floyd counties, possibly on Veterans Parkway. He said the temporary site in Clarksville will open in early May, with about 25 to 30 employees.

Ashley Furniture Industries Inc., based in Arcadia, Wisc., has about 300 stores worldwide, and McCord said another 100 locations are expected to open this year.
