Best Home Furnishings helps family near its Indiana headquarters

Furniture Today,
FERDINAND, Ind. — Best Home Furnishings will appear on ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home

Edition” helping a deserving family living just 10 minutes from the manufacturer’s corporate headquarters here.

The episode, set to air at 8 p.m. Eastern time this Sunday, will feature the family of Steve and Shawna Farina. Shawna, 27, is a breast cancer survivor with three children. The Farinas amassed large medical bills during her treatment and had put on hold their plan to fix up the family’s 134-year-old farmhouse.

“As a family-owned and operated company, Best strongly believes in helping our community, and we do so on a regular basis,” said President Brian Lange. “What’s more, we felt very strongly about the cause — a woman fighting breast cancer. We’ve had family members as well as employees diagnosed with cancer, so we know how devastating it can be.”

Best supplied two sofas and seven chairs, plus pillows, ottomans, footstools and countless yards of fabric for bedding, curtains and a table cover. Employees Eric Vollmer, advertising coordinator, Greg Sicard, national sales manager, and Keith Sherman, truck shop manager, donned blue “Extreme Makeover” shirts and drove a Best Home Furnishings truck to the home.

Sicard said the experience offered a chance to see throngs of people energized to support a needy family.

“ ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ provided Best Home Furnishings with an unforgettable experience and a wonderful chance to give back to our neighbors — but on a much grander scale than usual,” he said.
