Bevan Funnell closing High Point warehouse

HIGH POINT – English manufacturer Bevan Funnell  is closing its U.S. warehouse and pulling out of the market here.

The company showed at 521 N. Hamilton St. and has a warehouse nearby at 909 W. Market Center. The U.S. division employed about 10 workers and recently downsized to three, who began clearing out inventory with a warehouse sale this morning.

“The U.S. activities operated through Bevan Funnell (Reprodux) Inc. have been generating losses for many years,” said Ted Vermeer, managing director of the company in England. “It is clear that it is not viable for this company to maintain a showroom and warehouse in the U.S. and these are now being sold.”

He added, “The directors believe that the U.S. remains an important market for the Bevan Funnell Group, and they are currently reviewing how they can continue to supply the U.S. market, which could include managing agents in the U.S. directly from the UK.”

Vermeer also said the company “will endeavor to satisfy all its business obligations in the U.S. during the close-down, and it is currently working to supply customers with outstanding orders that have not already been fulfilled.” He said company manager Paul Glynn is carrying out the wind-down of the business and assets.
