Brazilian trendsetters showing as group

AT THE MARKET — Sixteen Brazilian companies are displaying furniture in a 6,900-square-foot pavilion at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the market here.

The exhibit is part of a project co-sponsored by APEX-Brazil, or the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, and controlled by ABIMOVEL, the Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Assn.

“The participation of Brazil in the Las Vegas market is very important, as manufacturers in this region are demonstrating some of the most trend-setting styles, and the country itself is a major player in the quality production of furniture exports,” said Tim Branscome, director of international business development for the World Market Center.

The United States is the main importer of Brazilian furniture, accounting for 40% of all the country’s furniture exports and reaching nearly $1 billion in 2012, according to APEX-Brazil.

Paulo Augusto Allemand, president of the Brazilian Contemporary Furniture & Home Décor Manufacturers Assn., or ABIMAD, believes participation in the Las Vegas market will add more value to the national product.

“The Brazilians want to participate in Las Vegas, which is gaining great recognition and is among the most important trade fairs nowadays,” he said. “It is another way to show the quality, functionality and identity of the Brazilian furniture for one of the most important markets in the world.”

Brazilian factories will be showing dining rooms, accent furniture, leather and fabric upholstery and home theater furniture at the market here.

Meanwhile, APEX-Brazil is opening distribution centers for the country’s furniture in Miami, Frankfurt, Germany, and Lisbon, Portugal. Other, private warehouses/showrooms also are being established in the U.S. market, one being Pampaexport’s showroom in Atlanta.

Brazilian companies showing at the Las Vegas market are Antica Accessories, Artenova Furniture, BRV Moveis, Casa D Industria De Moveis, Connect Upholstery, Formanova Furniture, Industria De Peles Minuano, Moveis German, Moveis Rimo, Modulaque Leather Sofas, Multimoveis Industria De Moveis, Niroflex Leather and Fabric Upholstery, Osterno Moveis, Politorno Moveis, Moveis Sandrim, and Sier Moveis.
