Carrara named VP of merchandising

SAN FRANCISCO — Furniture and accessories retailer Design Within Reach has added two vice presidents.

Michelle Carrara has joined DWR as vice president of merchandising, a position that has been redefined. She replaces Tara Poseley, who was promoted to her current position of president and CEO in September.

Carrara directs the company’s merchandising strategies, collaborates on product development initiatives, and oversees the buying team and vendor relations. She reports to Wanda Gierhart, executive vice president of marketing and merchandising.

Carrara joins DWR from Williams-Sonoma, where she was divisional merchandise manager-textiles and apparel for the Pottery Barn Kids division. She also has held senior merchandising roles at Gap.

Suzanne Ewing has joined the company as vice president of human resources, replacing Carmela Krantz, who left in October.

She reports to Poseley. Ewing has worked in human resources and organizational development for 15 years, most recently as vice president of human resources at Shopping.com.
