CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. — Cathy Smith has joined contemporary upholstery maker Weiman Furniture as vice president of merchandising, a new position.
She reports to Carl Philips, president of Interlude Home, which recently bought Weiman.
Smith, formerly director of textiles and merchandising for Los Angeles-based Lazar Inds., will be responsible for product development, fabric selection, creation of new sales aids and product presentations at markets.
“Cathy will be instrumental in defining the overall style and designs of both the Weiman and Preview upholstery collections,†said Philips. “She will work closely with executives and designers at Interlude Home in broadening Weiman/Preview as well as Interlude Home.â€
Smith recently resigned from Lazar, where she served as a director with duties encompassing textiles, sales support, merchandising and showroom coordination.
