Charges brought against 9 officials in furniture contraband case

IRKUTSK, September 24 (Itar-Tass) — Charges have been brought against nine officials in the Tri Kita criminal case,


and eight of them are in custody, Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said in the Vesti Nedeli news program of the Rossiya television channel.

“I think we will reach the finish line in December, and the suspects will start studying their case files,” he said. “Some officials have proven to be corrupt, including those in law enforcement agencies.”

All in all, 19 officials have been dismissed in the investigation of contraband furniture sold at Tri Kita and Grand malls. “Some of them committed crimes and were charged, and some breached discipline and enabled the felonies,” Chaika said.
