Credit VP Purcell leaves Pulaski

PULASKI, Va. –Paul Purcell, a 34-year industry veteran and vice president of credit administration for Pulaski

Furniture, has left the company, the result of continuing staff changes.

Purcell, who joined the company in 1993 as director of credit and was promoted in 1997 to vice president of credit administration, left early this week. He said he is pursuing options in the furniture industry and elsewhere in credit and in sales management and administration, where he also has experience.

Don Mitchell, who joined Pulaski in October as president, couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Purcell, who also worked for Pennsylvania House, Singer and Stanley, primarily in controller and senior credit management roles, is a two-time president of the Furniture Manufacturers Credit Assn. as well as a 24-year board member of the group. He served as its treasurer for 14 years and was inducted into the FMCA’s Hall of Fame in 2004.

“I’ve enjoyed my 14 years at Pulaski Furniture,” Purcell said, but added that he looks forward to taking his experience to another company.

Last month, David Corbin resigned as head of Pulaski’s marketing department to join Chromcraft Revington as senior vice president.

Pulaski was acquired earlier this year. Its parent company is Home Meridian International, which also owns case goods maker and importer SLF.
