SAN FRANCISCO — Top 100 retailer Design Within Reach has hired Peter Kruglinski as controller and vice president of finance.


In a release, the company said Kruglinski “will help strengthen Design Within Reach’s finance, accounting, external reporting, tax, treasury and investor relations department, as well as the company’s fulfillment center operations.”

He has more than 30 years of financial management and business experience, most recently as corporate controller at Anna’s Linens, a 212-store specialty retailer with annual sale of $300 million.

“Peter has deep experience in financial operations and planning, inventory management and control,” said Ray Brunner, DWR president and CEO. “We look forward to working with Peter as we focus on the fundamentals of cost control and continue our turnaround plan to return DWR to profitability.”

San Francisco-based DWR, a multi-channel retailer of modern furniture and accessories, is No. 63 on Furniture/Today’s survey of Top 100 U.S. furniture stores with estimated residential furniture, bedding and accessories sales of $110 million.

For its fiscal first quarter ended April 1, the retailer posted a $4.2 million loss compared with a $900,000 profit for the same period a year ago. Net sales dipped 1.4% to $35 million.
