A High Point furniture company beset by financial problems and customer complaints has closed its doors.


The state Attorney General’s office said Furniture Buy Direct, as well as its recent reincarnation, N.C. Furniture World, have gone out of business.

Three former employees came forward this past Monday to say N.C. Furniture Buy Direct never ordered about 75 percent of furniture ordered and paid for by customers.

The company’s outside counsel said Furniture Buy Direct was hit hard by financial troubles late in 2012.

Around that time, owners Darrell and Russell Buck took out a loan worth more than $1 million to try and salvage the failing business.
