Otis S. Sawyer has been promoted to senior vice president of corporate operations, a new post, at La-Z-Boy Incorporated.

Mr. Sawyer, who previously was chief information officer, will be responsible for information technology, transportation/logistics and corporate fabric procurement.

“Otis has worked in a number of different capacities during his 13 years at La-Z-Boy and, in each, has added significant value to our organization,” said Kurt Darrow, La-Z-Boy chief executive officer.

“As our supply chain becomes increasingly more global, Otis will play a pivotal role in seamlessly integrating systems, transportation and fabric procurement to make our operations more efficient and improve service to our customers.”

Before becoming chief information officer in August, 2004, he was senior vice president of finance at the company’s England Inc. subsidiary, where he previously held a series of increasingly responsible positions. Before joining England, he was a controller at Councill Companies and was with Hanes Corp. earlier in his career.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Guilford College, a master’s degree from Wake Forest University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
